Marion Civic Theatre will be presenting its next play, “Beautiful, Crazy,” on Oct. 6-8.
“Beautiful, Crazy” is a comedy about Jim who woos Alicia by telling her he is a director and can get her the lead in his upcoming play. Jim then convinces his roommate to stage the “play” in the psychiatric ward of the hospital she works for. Jim convinces Alicia that the psychiatric patients are method actors. But when the nurse supervisor, a security guard and the hospital’s regional director arrive, madness ensues.
“Beautiful, Crazy” is directed by Kathy Daniels and produced by Cynthia Myers.
Daniels has been with Marion Civic Theatre for nine years. “Beautiful, Crazy” is the fifth show she has directed.
“My expectations are that people will come and have a great time,” Daniels said.
Javon Washington who will be playing Jim, wants the audience to enjoy the performance, and to be prepared to interact.
“Just have fun. Come in, have fun with us. People, at certain points of the play, have been invited in, as we talk to them. Have fun with it,” Washington said.
The cast said they have enjoyed working together and have had a great time with the play.
J.J. Leak, who will be playing Alicia, said being a part of the play has been fun and hasn’t felt like work.
“This is a top-notch group here. This cast really is good. I don’t expect anything but perfection,” Leak said.
