Indiana Wesleyan University welcomed comedian Tim Hawkins to their chapel stage for a sold out show on Friday night for a time of entertainment and laughter.
A line formed outside of the chapel and wrapped around the building as people from all over Indiana and even from other states came to attend the show.
Wendy Cramer came from McClure, Ohio with her husband for the show. This was her first time seeing Tim Hawkins live and she said that she thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Cramer said this was the hardest she has laughed in a long time.
Hawkins said that making people laugh is what brings him joy. He wants to provide laughter as a distraction to people who might be going through hard things and need something to get their mind off of their problems.
There was even an appearance from Indiana native and fellow comedian, John Branyan, which came as a surprise to some people. David Fuchs, from Peru, Indiana was pleasantly surprised by how much he enjoyed Branyan’s performance.
Fuchs attended the show with his wife. They’ve been fans of Hawkins since seeing some of his comedy DVDs.
“We had an opportunity to see him, and he has not disappointed,” Fuchs said.
Hawkins is also a musician and singer. He played acoustic and electric guitars, the harmonica, and the keyboard during his show. He even sang some comedic songs he wrote – including ones about plastic Walmart bags, pink tractors, and Starbucks.
The show closed with Hawkins performing his favorite worship song and every audience member on their feet for a standing ovation.
